The SOA@Singapore wiki is managed by the SOA Chapter of the Singapore infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF). Please contact Lawrence Lim for more details.
[edit] Objectives of the SOA@Singapore wiki
This is a collaborative and learning wiki for people interested in promoting SOA in Singapore. Sharing and dissemination of SOA-related information is highly encouraged. These can be news, announcements, events, posting of best practices related to issues like web services interoperability, how-to, etc. The intent is to build a knowledge base (repository) of SOA news, events, best practices, etc.

[edit] SOA Chapter (SOAC)
The SOA Chapter aims to accelerate the adoption of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) in the industry. It will maintain close working ties with the public and private sectors to promote SOA and it will also facilitate companies to realize innovative business opportunities through the Chapter’s vibrant series of initiatives and activities.
[edit] The Charter Of SOA Chapter
SOAC is an industry initiative that will address the key issues in moving SOA to the next level of adoption by the industry and businesses. The main goals of the Chapter are:
- to actively promote, facilitate and accelerate the adoption of SOA to drive innovation, collaboration and creation of business value;
- to encourage infocomm community and all organizations that are interested in promoting SOA and contributing to the SOAC’s deliverables, to be part of the Chapter;
- to provide regular networking events, activities and seminars to bring about a collaborative environment to proliferate SOA adoption across industries.
[edit] Value Proposition to Members
The community of SOA members represent a wide spectrum of industry organisations, public sector and companies that are interested in the adoption of SOA in their enterprises. The variety of members with diverse expertise and experiences from solution architecture, development, deployment, implementation to the management and governance of SOA will contribute to the sharing of best practices and enhancing value to the members.
The Chapter will organise events and activities to provide members with networking opportunities as well as latest industry trends and updates. Members will also be invited to participate and contribute to working groups based on their interests and expertise.
The Chapter will also organise a regional SOA conference in Singapore. The Chapter will work in conjunction with the industry and standards organisations to respond to members’ needs by providing direction, guidance, best practices and advice for implementing SOA in conformance to industry standards.
The Chapter has already spearheaded the launched of the SOA Centre located at Nanyang Polytechnic campus in 2005, supported by IDA. This Centre has since provided much needed Web Services Interoperability testing services to the industry and members. These services have brought good value to companies with products, applications and services that need to be interoperability compliant across systems and platform.
[edit] SOA Chapter Membership
SOA Chapter relies on active participation of its members to accomplish its goals. Members will be invited to participate in initiatives and activities organized by the Chapter. Membership is open to the infocomm community and all organisations interested in promoting SOA and contributing to the SOAC’s goals.
All applicants must be SiTF members. Non-SiTF members can apply for SiTF membership together with Chapter membership and admission to the SOAC is contingent on the approval of SiTF membership.

[edit] The SOA Centre
NYP collaborated with SiTF to establish the SOA Centre, supported by iDA, to accelerate and promote wider adoption of Web Services-based SOA across industry sectors. A total of 18 industry partners are contributing, in a unified effort, hardware, software and expertise to the centre.The initial list of partners include Accenture, BEA Systems, Cisco Systems, Crannog Software, Ecquaria Technologies, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Mercury Interactive, Microsoft, NCS, Novell, Oracle, Parasoft, SAP, Singapore Computer Systems, ILOG, SQL View and Sun Microsystems.
The IT industry can take advantage of the expertise and services offered by the centre as a strategic resource to its Web Services development, and to reinforce the ‘Made in Singapore’ branding of software quality.
[edit] Interoperability Testing @ SOA Centre
One of the missions of the vendor-neutral SOA Centre is to conduct Web Services interoperability testing for IT solution/service providers implementing web services especially built on multiple platforms. All testing are subsidized by IDA and all test results are held in the strictest confidence. The SOA Centre also provides consultancy in SOA design, development and implementation and SOA governance, quality and management.
